April Roundup

Our April round-up video, helped to be created by some of our brilliant supporters! Plus read the highlights of what happened on the reserve in April.

21st April: A team from Yorkshire Water came to do some river fly sampling (more information on their findings coming soon)

24th April: A stunning close-up of a heron, captured on our wildlife camera (which unfortunately re-set the year as 2025, but it was definitely taken this year!)

25th April: Our regular DofE volunteer Sam did a brilliant job of removing old wire, along with trustee Graeme Jackson and leader of our wildlife team, Dave Watkins.

26th April: The school held a volunteer day for parents and carers to come along and help carry out some work around the school grounds, including setting some of the old stone wall pieces into the school’s new field, and pulling nettles from beneath the old oak tree.

27th April: A brilliant meeting was held to ascertain if Townend Field Nature Reserve would be suitable to support some of the local, endangered Tansy Beetle; it turns out, that it is! More information coming soon.

28th April: Grass mowing training. The Parish Council kindly allow us to use their mower, with a very small number of the team at UOCT helping out to maintain the mown paths.
