Wow—we were absolutely blown away by the turnout and support at our final public meeting at the village hall. It was very well attended and the energy in the room was incredible!
We heard inspiring words from trustee David Lloyd, John Law from the Natural World Fund, our brilliant trustee and wildlife expert Kate Yates, and Nick Oswald, headteacher of Great Ouseburn Primary School. Everyone spoke passionately about what saving Townend Field could mean for our school, our community, and local wildlife.
One of the evening’s highlights? Ethan, age 6, was proudly awarded the very first junior membership card—a true little legend who’s already donated from his own piggy bank to help the cause! Nick Oswald also shared a wonderfully long list of the many different ways the pupils at Great Ouseburn Community Primary School could see themselves enjoying an outdoor education offer at their school, ranging from forest school sessions, to going on bug hunts and climbing trees!

Lots of people picked up a prospectus, made donations on the night, and showed us just how much they care. If we ever needed a reminder of how amazing this community is—this was it.
Also, a huge thank you to Luke Crawford, our brilliant volunteer, who’s just launched our shiny new website—go check it out!
Just under 4 weeks to go to raise the £275,000 we need. We’re getting closer every day—let’s keep pushing!
