Townend Field Nature Reserve permissive footpaths are now open!

We wanted to thank everybody who attended our opening event on Thursday 2nd October and to welcome everyone to the nature reserve which is now open!

We want everyone to be able to enjoy this beautiful nature reserve so please remember that it is first and foremost for nature.

Here are some ways you can enjoy it responsibly:

  • Please stay on the marked permissive footpaths.
  • Dogs are only allowed on the top field on short leads.
  • When there are sheep on the field then no dogs are allowed.
  • There are no dogs allowed in the lower field (Long Carr), as this is particularly wildlife sensitive.
  • You can check the ‘sheep status’ and if there are any permissive path route changes on our notice board at the entrance.
  • Please be respectful of wildlife, residents and the school.

The reserve is a special place and we all want to enjoy it.

Thank you for helping to care for Townend Field Nature Reserve.
