Last night (Tuesday 22nd July,) moth expert and volunteer Dave Watkins met with trustees Graeme, Lou and young nature enthusiast Ethan, to set 4 moth traps around Townend Field Nature Reserve. This was the third time the moths had been surveyed by Dave.
This morning (bright and early!) the moths were carefully removed and identified. Dave continues to carry out regular moth surveys, to build up a picture of the different species there.
From this survey, species included:
- Large Emeralnd
- Small Phoenix
- Smoky Wainscot
- Drinker
- Ruby Tiger
- Flame Shoulder
- Dingy Footman
A fascinating morning! Thank you to Dave Watkins for your incredibly useful surveying and expertise.
