A big thank you to the 14 volunteers who joined us to tackle Himalayan balsam on ‘The Island’!

Over the course of four hours, the team worked incredibly hard to clear large swathes of this invasive plant, including areas beneath the trees and along the stream banks. It was no small task, and we’re so grateful for their energy and enthusiasm! A large part of The Island is now cleared – incredible!

Due to the extent of the balsam across the reserve – and its long growing, flowering, and seeding season – we’ll need to hold several more sessions this year. Continued effort is essential if we’re to get on top of the problem and stop the plant from spreading further.

Our next volunteering day is on Saturday 26th July, from 9:45am to 2:00pm.
We’d love to see you there – every pair of hands really does make a difference!
